WHEN AND HOW DOES TXTMOB COLLECT PERSONAL INFORMATION?
Registration
Personally identifying information is any information that can be used to identify and contact you, including your e-mail address, telephone number, and carrier service provider (what we call your "Personal Information"). We use your Personal Information to manage your account and to provide you with the Txtmob services. Therefore, when you register as a member of a Txtmob service or program, we ask for your honest responses to this information, and you represent that your responses are correct and accurate, so that we can serve you more efficiently and effectively. At any time, you can change or remove your personal information by editing your profile page. Changes made through the profile page are immediately reflected in our database.
A cell phone number and carrier service provider is required to send messages to your mobile phone. As with your other Personal Information, we use your cell phone number only for the purposes of delivering those Txtmob services that you have opted into.
Cookies
In order to provide you with thorough and personalized service, Txtmob sometimes uses "cookies" to keep and occasionally track information about you. A cookie is a small piece of data that is sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. The cookies that are gathered by Txtmob are only used by Txtmob. At no time do we share information from cookies with third parties. If you don't like cookies, you can turn them off - Txtmob's services will still be available to you.
Links to Other Sites
Please note that you could be directed to another site while using Txtmob Web sites. When you link to another site, you should review their privacy policy, as it may be different from our Privacy Policy. Such sites may send their own cookies to users and otherwise collect data or solicit personal information. Txtmob is not responsible, and shall not be liable, for the privacy practices of linked sites or any use such sites may make of any information collected from you. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by Txtmob web site.
Children
Children should not submit any Personal Information without the permission of their parents or guardians. Txtmob encourages all parents or guardians to instruct their children in the safe and responsible use of their Personal Information while using the Internet. Txtmob will not allow children under the age of thirteen (13) to use the Web site.
WHEN DOES TXTMOB NETWORKS SHARE MY PERSONAL INFORMATION?
Invitations
Txtmob users are able to view each other's login names in order to invite each other to join groups. However, members are not able to view each other's Personal Information except by mutual consent.
When Required by Law
Txtmob will release Personal Information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with laws; enforce or apply our Terms and Conditions and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of Txtmob Networks, our users, or others.
Aggregate Data
When you access Txtmob Web sites, our server automatically collects certain information that is not personally identifiable, such as your IP address, pages viewed, and length of time spent on the Web site. We also archive messages that are sent to Txtmob groups. We collect and use this information, in the aggregate only, to diagnose problems with our server, and to understand our users better. We may from time to time, share aggregated information with journalists, academic audiences, and the general public. At no time will we release personally identifiable information, except when required by law.
A Note about Groups
Txtmob services give you the opportunity to create and send messages to other Txtmob Networks members. Please remember that the messages you send out are publicly available. We encourage you to be careful and not to publish any Personal Information in messages you send out. Always keep in mind that any information you disclose on the Internet or through the Txtmob services (through e-mail or text messages) is public and can be read by others. Also, whenever you send messages through the Internet or through the Txtmob services, there is a risk that your personally identifying information can be collected by a third party, resulting in unsolicited e-mail messages or advertisements.
Security
Txtmob Networks takes precautions to ensure the security of your Personal Information and strives to keep it accurate. However, we cannot guarantee that hackers or unauthorized personnel may gain access to your Personal Information despite our efforts.
CONSENT TO PRIVACY POLICY
By using Txtmob services, you consent to the collection and use of information about you in the ways described in this Privacy Policy. Txtmob reserves the right to update and amend this Privacy Policy from time to time to remain consistent with new products, services, processes, and Internet privacy legislation. We will post changes to the Privacy Policy on this page so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it. The amended Privacy Policy shall automatically be effective five (5) days after they are initially posted on the Web site.
